If you are familiar with the true history of your people, if you are honouring participants of Freedom Fights, repressed, soldiers of Latvian army, Latvian legionnaires or national Latvian partisans. Then it is your sacred duty to defend your land and people, of which your ancestors have given away the most precious – life. Latvia is the only Latvian folk land. Folk and its land will exist as long as its language will flow and confidence of the people will grow.

I have determined to encourage public trust to the Saeima:

- I will try to promise only what I can comply. I will argue my opinion safely, openly and sincerely.

- In thoughts, words and deeds I will stand for Lettic, just, secure, materially and mentally prosperous Latvian nation and Latvian state.

- I will give an advice and share in experience with everyone who cares about future of Latvia as national state and the future of Latvian people and language.

Current position:

Minister of Justice of the Republic of Latvia

I was born in July 17, 1963, in Jūrmala, Latvia. Currently I am married and father of four children.


Education:
From 1984 till 1990 - University of Latvia, Faculty of Law, Lawyer’s qualification; from 1996 till 2000 University of Latvia, Faculty of Law, M.A. in Law (M.Sc.L.). My specialization is national legal issues, voting rights and corruption prevention.

Authored many of the legislative items put forth by “For Fatherland and Freedom” in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Saeima.


Public activities:

Since 1989 has regularly had publications, given interviews and expressed his opinion in national and foreign media;
Since June 2011 I am using social networks such as „Twitter” and „Facebook”, because these sites are reflecting public opinion, it’s development and diversity without any censorship;
Also I am a member of the Presidium Latvian Lawyer’s Association.


Awards:

• Received the commemorative mark of distinction for joining the 1991 barricades (# 221);
• An expression of thanks from the general prosecutor on the 80th Anniversary of the Latvian State “For unwavering support in strengthening the legality of the prosecutor in the state” (11.1998);
• Received the mark of honor of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia “For contribution to establishment and consolidation of Latvia`s  State defence system” (03.2004);
• Received the commemorative medal of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Latvia “For advancing Latvia`s accession to NATO” (06.2004).
